Terms of Service
Last updated October 11, 2026
Vigil is run by Vigil Caregiving LLC. Vigil is here to make caregiving a little easier. These terms explain what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you in return. We’ve kept them short and in plain language — no fine print games.
Welcome to Vigil
Vigil is a caregiver support platform that helps you organize medications, appointments, incidents, documents, and coordinate care with the people you trust. By creating an account or using Vigil, you’re agreeing to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the app.
Vigil is not medical advice
This is important. Vigil is an organizing and coordination tool — it is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical, legal, or professional advice. The Library, Wellness tracks, and any guidance in the app are for general information and support only.
Always rely on a qualified doctor, pharmacist, or other professional for decisions about a loved one’s care. In an emergency, call your local emergency number right away — don’t use Vigil to seek urgent help.
Your account
You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in details private, and for what happens under your account. Please give us accurate information when you sign up, and let us know if you think someone else has gained access to your account.
When you invite family members, aides, or a loved one into your Care Circle, you’re responsible for choosing who to trust with that information and what level of access to give them. You can change or remove access at any time.
Being respectful
Please use Vigil lawfully and kindly. Don’t upload anything harmful, abusive, or that isn’t yours to share, and don’t try to break, overload, or misuse the app.
The Community has zero tolerance for harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, spam, or unsafe medical advice. Posts with strong profanity or slurs are blocked. Anyone can tap ⋯ on a post, reply, or Helpful Find to report it or block the person who wrote it. We review reports as quickly as we can, usually within a few days, remove content that breaks these rules, and may close the accounts of people who post it.
Your content stays yours
The information you add — notes, documents, photos, care details — belongs to you. You give us permission to store and display it so the app can work for you and the people you’ve chosen to share it with. We don’t sell your content, and we don’t use it for advertising.
SMS Terms
Vigil Caregiving LLC (“Vigil”) offers optional text message reminders. If you add your mobile number in Settings → Notifications and tick the consent box, you agree to receive automated texts from Vigil, including medication reminders and Care Circle task reminders. Consent is not required to use Vigil.
Message frequency varies based on the reminders you turn on. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any text to cancel. You’ll get one message confirming you’ve been unsubscribed, and no more texts after that. Reply START to sign up again. Reply HELP for help, or contact us on our Support page. You can also turn texts off any time in Settings → Notifications.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Your mobile number and consent are handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Paid plans
Vigil offers a free plan and may offer paid plans with additional features. If you choose a paid plan, we’ll always make the price and what’s included clear before you’re charged. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Things we can’t promise
We work hard to keep Vigil reliable and available, but we can’t promise it will be perfect or never interrupted. Vigil is provided “as is,” and to the extent the law allows, we’re not responsible for losses that result from relying on the app in place of professional care. Please keep your own backups of anything truly essential.
Changes to these terms
As Vigil grows, we may update these terms. If we make a meaningful change, we’ll do our best to let you know. Continuing to use Vigil after an update means you accept the new terms.
Getting in touch
If anything here is unclear, or you need help, we’re happy to talk. You can reach us any time through the support options inside the app.
